Saif Ali Khan is gearing up for a blockbuster 2020 with two of his films releasing in January, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior alongside Ajay Devgn, Kajol, and Jawaani Jaaneman which also stars Tabu and Alaia Furniturewalla.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior releases today in which Saif will play the role of Uday Bhan Rathore, the main antagonist of the film, a Rajput warrior who fought for Aurangzeb against the Marathas.

In the film, Saif's character dons a long beard and long hair and when he was recently asked about his son Taimur's reaction to his look in the film, Saif said that whenever Taimur saw him in Uday Bhan's avatar, the tiny tot would say "Sardarji Sardarji".

In a recent interview, Saif also opened up about his role in the film and playing such a different character.

He said, "Om (the director) invented a very colorful villain; not a villain, an antagonist. Aurangzeb entrusts him to defend the fort against Tanhaji. The kind of back story that Om gave it and the kind of madness he created, it was a very new experience as an actor. We approached it in a very different way from how I have done anything before. And I have a tendency to try and underplay things, and he was like, no I want you to be much louder, which was very frightening because that’s new for me. And the hair and the clothes and Nachiket Barve, who has done costumes for the film, really made it into a spectacle! I don’t think it is the evil empire, but he is a slightly deranged character, that is for sure."
