Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar are teaming up for the first time in Saand Ki Aankh, which is based on the lives of the world’s oldest sharp shooters Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar. As the two women, who are famously called shooter daadis, hail from the hinterland, it was a challenging task for Taapsee and Bhumi to get into the skin of their respective characters.

The makers also had to ensure that the actresses looked and sounded relatable.

A source says that the brief to the stylist and the costume team was to keep it as close to reality, so everything from the texture of the fabric to the colours was well-researched. They met the Tomar sisters-in-law  and took minute details from them and also from the other women in the village. They researched for six-eight months before the film went on floors.

Says a source, “The makers wanted Taapsee and Bhumi to replicate a look similar to the real-life personalities they were playing. To make it more authentic, they sourced some of the costumes and accessories from the locals in Meerut and the nearby villages where the film was shot. Not only that, they managed to get a few outfits from Chandro and Prakashi as well.”

The actresses also learnt and practised rifle shooting for over a month at Savarkar Air Rifle Academy in Mumbai. They were coached by former National shooting champion Vishwajeet Shinde.
