Rohit Shetty's recent offering Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the leads is grabbing the eyeballs for reasons more than one. The film has already managed to impress the audience and the critics alike. Simmba has emerged as the third highest grosser of 2018 after Sanju and Padmaavat and is racing towards the Rs 200 crore mark.

Apart from the performances and the stoyline of the film, Simmba has been in the news for a number of special appearances. Be it Karan Johar and Team Golmaal in the song Aankh Marey or Ajay Devgn's extended cameo in his Singham avatar, the special appearances in Simmba too have become a talking point.

In a one-of-its-kind movie announcement, Rohit Shetty got Akshay Kumar to do a guest appearance in Simmba towards the end, and made it official that the actor will be starring as the ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) chief Veer Sooryavanshi in the next movie of Rohit's cop film franchise titled Sooryavanshi. The scene also mentioned that Akshay's character of Veer will be taking charge in 2019, which is when the film is to go on floors.

Recently, rumour mills have been busy churning that Akshay's Housefull 4 co-star Pooja Hegde may be roped in to play the female lead in Sooryavanshi, on the behest of Akshay Kumar. While many believed that Pooja and Akshay may be seen together again in Sooryavanshi considering that they've already worked together in Housefull 4, looks like that isn't the case as of now.

Why do we say so? Well, if a report on TimesNowNews.com is to be believed then Rohit Shetty has confirmed to ZoomTv.com that Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi is still a work in progress and that they've not locked in any actress for the same. The report further suggests that Rohit and his team are in the process of completing the final draft of the script and that they've not zeroed in on any actress for the female lead in the film.
