Ganesh Chaturthi is here and B-Town celebrates the occasion with great fervour. This year, Sonu Sood (Simmba and Dabangg) and Aayush Sharma (Loveyatri) are bringing Bappa home with great gusto. They share with us the joy that the festival brings, including the best memory and a wish fulfilled by the elephant God.

BEST THING ABOUT GANPATI FESTIVAL

Sonu Sood: I think it is the positive atmosphere it creates and brings people together. Everyone is doing their bit towards making the festival a celebration of joy. People take the time off to be with their families, participate in putting the decoration together and prepare prasad for devotees. It’s heart warming to witness all that.

Aayush Sharma: This is one festival when people of all the religions come together and there is so much positive energy during this time. It’s an endearing tradition and a nice feeling when so many friends and relatives come to our house to take Bappa’s blessings.

A WISH FULFILLED BY GANESHA

Sonu: I’ve always received what I have asked from Ganpati and I’m living a life blessed by opportunities given to me by Bappa. I pray for my family’s good health and the strength to give my best every day.

Aayush: I would not say he has always fulfilled my wishes but whatever I’ve asked for with my true heart, he’s always given me.

PLANS FOR THIS FESTIVE SEASON

Sonu: My plans include Ganpati darshans and spending time with my family. It will be refreshing for me to unwind after a long schedule of work. A lot of exciting things are happening in the course of this year. I’m waiting for the right time to announce it.

Aayush: I have taken two days off my busy schedule and like every year, Arpita (Khan Sharma, wife) and I, along with the entire family, will be performing Ganesh Puja at home and we’ll visit our friends’ houses for darshan.

FAVOURITE MEMORY

Sonu: It is visiting Lalbaugcha Raja, which is the most revered pandal in Mumbai.

Aayush: When I was introduced to the festival for the first time when I came to Mumbai in 2009. As I come from North India, I wasn’t aware about this festival and never saw the kind of enthusiasm people have for this festival in Mumbai and how much it means to them.

SINCE WHEN ARE YOU BRINGING GANESHA

Sonu: Since the time I’ve got my own house in Mumbai. It’s a five day Ganpati.

Aayush: This tradition has been started by Arpita and she used to bring Bappa at Galaxy, it’s been three years now. We keep Ganesha for one and a half days, every year and this year also it’s the same.
