Actress Sonam Kapoor returned to India about a week ago and photos and videos of the diva breaking into tears upon seeing her father, senior actor Anil Kapoor at the airport went viral on the internet.

Soon after her arrival, fans started speculating that the 'Neerja' star was pregnant, pointing out the outfit she was wearing -- a blazer teamed with a free-flowing skirt, to hide her pregnancy.

However, shutting all pregnancy rumours, on Wednesday evening, Sonam Kapoor shared an Instagram story about the first day of her period.

The actress shared a boomerang on her Instagram Stories in which she is seen in a black and white maxi dress while sipping ginger tea out of a cup. The actress revealed that she was having a hard time on the first day of the period. Sonam wrote, "Hot water bottle and ginger tea for first day of my period."

Sonam Kapoor returned to India after nearly a year. She had flown to London when lockdown norms were relaxed in the country last year, to be with her husband Anand Ahuja.

While in London, Sonam had started working for her next movie and wrapped the shoot of 'Blind', a thriller directed by Shome Makhija. The film is produced by Sujoy Ghosh.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Vogue, Sonam had spoken about the gender pay gap in Bollywood. She said, "The pay gap is ridiculous. I can stand up to it, but then I don’t get those roles, and I’m okay with that. I can afford to do that. I realised over the past two or three years that I have no right to judge anybody. I’m privileged, so making difficult choices isn’t really f***ing difficult."

Recently, she was even trolled online for her 'freedom in London' remark'.
In her interaction with Vogue magazine, the 'Aisha' star had said, "I like the freedom here. I make my own food, clean my own space, shop for my own groceries." She further talked about how emotionally taxing the pandemic was for her. She said, "Friends have lost their parents. Young people have passed away, people I know. I didn't sleep for a month. I love living here, but India is where my heart is."

Sonam's 'freedom in London' statement was received with a pinch of salt by netizens who called out her privileges and expressed that she could've done all the household chores in India as well and that no one forces her to hire house help in the country.
