In May, DNA After Hrs reported that Imran Khan and Avantika Malik have called for some time off in their marriage reportedly due to irreconcilable differences. Talking about the same, a source had earlier told, "Avantika allegedly left 24, Pali Hill, Imran’s residence, a while ago with Imara. It is being said that she is currently staying with her family." The couple was in a relationship for eight years and are also married for the past eight years.

A while back, Avantika took to her Instagram story and shared a note penned by musician Morgan Harper Nichols. It read as, "Sometimes, you have to walk away. You have to look at the things you’re giving energy to and realize that even though you could stay, and try to win their approval or try to make it up their ladder, you could also make the brave choice to take whatever energy you have left to a space that welcomes you. You may still need to walk away, trusting there is so much more ahead of you."

The post which was deleted later hinted about walking away and this she shared amidst strong divorce rumours between Imran and her.

Despite both keeping mum about the reports, at an event, Imran was asked about separation rumours. To which he replied, "How can you ask such a question at an event like this?"

Earlier talking about Avantika, Imran had said, "I am from a Muslim family and Avantika belongs to a Hindu family. I personally didn’t commit our wedding to one religion or another. We felt the best way for us was to keep it neutral and have a court marriage."
