Shoojit Sircar reveals narrating 'Gulabo Sitabo' to Ayushmann Khurrana at Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh's reception

Shoojit Sircar's latest directorial Gulabo Sitabo has finally premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead roles and it's their first outing together. The film has the legendary actor playing the role of a landlord Mirza, while Ayushmann is seen as a tenant named Bankey. During a recent video interview, Shoojit opened up about casting Ayushmann in the film and where the decision was finalised.

The filmmaker stated, "Yes, Ayushmann was the first choice but before that, we debated a lot. His casting was done later. First was Mr Bachchan's casting and then I remember I think I broke the news to him, I remember it was... Deepika Padukone's reception (laughs). So at that reception, I gave him the basic narration, I remember. And you know that's when we agreed (to do the film). He was excited, he was jumping since then."

Shoojit added, "So, I think we first bounced the idea to him at their reception. Suddenly mere ko yaad aa raha hai. I think you are the first one I am telling this. So, that's when I told him the idea."

Gulabo Sitabo streamed on Amazon Prime Video with subtitles in 15 languages and 200 countries.

Earlier, talking about shooting for Gulabo Sitabo in Lucknow, Big B had told IANS, "The takeaway Lucknow the city, the people, an absolute delight to work in and with."

Before, Gulabo Sitabo, Big B worked with Shoojit in Piku and Ayushmann had debuted with Vicky Donor.
