Two weeks after her husband, Raj Kundra’s arrest in the porn films case, Shilpa Shetty has now released a statement stating that the past few days have been challenging. The actress shared how she and her family have been trolled incessantly on social media.

Shilpa in her statement goes on to say that she will not comment on the matter as it is subjudice but has requesting people to not quote her falsely. She requested netizens and media to respect their family’s privacy for their children’s sake and stated that they ‘don’t deserve a media trial’.

“My statement. Yes! The past few days have been challenging, on every front. There have been a lot of rumours and accusations. A lot of unwarranted aspersions on me cast by the media and (not so) well wishers as well. A lot of trolling/questions posed… not only to me but also to my family,” read Shilpa Shetty’s statement.

She further wrote, “MY STAND… I HAVE NOT COMMENTED YET and will continue to refrain from doing so on this case as it is subjudice, so please stop attributing false quotes on my behalf.  Reiterating my philosophy of, as a celebrity “Never complain, never explain”. All I will say is, as it’s an on-going investigation, I have full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary.”

She added, "As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies. But, till then I humbly request you - especially as a MOTHER - to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same.”

“I am a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down. So, most importantly, I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times. We don’t deserve a media trial. Please let the law take its course. Satyamev Jayate! With Positivity and Gratitude, Shilpa Shetty Kundra,” Shilpa concluded.

Reacting to the post, actress Anita Hassanandani dropped heart emojis in the comment section while Yoga Guru Akshay wrote, “Prayers for you Yogini.”

Raj Kundra was arrested by police on July 19 along with 11 other people on charges related to the alleged creation of pornographic films. Kundra has been named as the key conspirator by the Mumbai Police which has slapped charges against him under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, said the police.

Mumbai Crime Branch on Tuesday said that actor Shilpa Shetty has not yet been given a clean chit in the pornography racket case where her husband and businessman Raj Kundra is the prime accused.

Shilpa Shetty recently approached the Bombay High Court seeking to restrain various media organizations and social media platforms from publishing any ‘incorrect, false, malicious and defamatory’ content against her in connection with the arrest of her husband.

She also sought damages to the tune of Rs. 25 crores in the defamation suit, stating that respondents are causing 'irreparable harm’ and damage to her reputation with the aim of sensationalizing news and increasing their readership and viewership.
