Shah Rukh Khan assures 'Nobody dares to misbehave with a woman on my set'

Gender inequality, debate over difference in pay wages and even sexual misconduct by powerful men in the business has rocked Hollywood. When one of Bollywood's most chivalrous star Shah Rukh Khan was questioned about the situation in Indian film industry the actor made it clear that no one is allowed to misbehave with a woman on my sets.

After being awarded with the Crystal Award 2018 at World Economic Forum in Davos along with Cate Blanchett and Elton John, SRK spoke to BBC world news about the controversial subject and was asked about whether women are being mistreated in Bollywood. SRK appeared on the “HARDtalk on BBC World News” show and said, "  “At a level when I’m making films or working in films, we are very clear about the attitude to women. Even the smallest aspects, of the names coming first in title, which is not going to do anything, but the kind of respectability."

“Even this small thing needs to be done just to bring about the equality… Just see what we’ve reduced ourselves to. You know, to put a girl’s name in front just to show what little guys we are, thinking of them as equals. And that is sad and that is strangely dichotomous when you’re talking about creativity, and you have boys and girls working together.  “I have never personally, first hand and nobody, if I may say, nobody dared misbehave with a woman on my set, I am very clear on that,” he added. 

Earlier when Salman Khan was questioned why Bollywood has not spoken against people like Harvey Weinstein in India, he dodged the question saying that he doesn't know of any such people. At HT Summit last year, Bhaijaan said,  "It is disgusting practice to use somebody to take advantage of any person in return of getting them work. I've never heard anybody say it out loud but if I do then I will take them to the cleaners.”
