Due to the second wave of the COVID 19 epidemic, theatres throughout Maharashtra were closed. However, since the number of cases have decreased, many people have asked the government to open more theatres. In the midst of this, Kangana Ranaut, who is preparing for the release of her film ‘Thalaivii,' took to social media to appeal that the Maharashtra government open the theatres. After promoting ‘Thalaivii,' the actress recently returned from Hyderabad and Chennai.

Kangana took to Instagram to call on the authorities to pay attention to the dropping incidence of COVID 19 in the state and propose reopening movie theatres. She pleaded with them to save both the theatre and the movie industry. She wrote, "Cases in Maharashtra have declined requesting Maharashtra government to #OpenUpCinemas in Maharashtra and save the dying film industry and theatres business." She used folded hands emoticons at the end of her note.

The filmmakers are apparently in talks with multiplexes to get the film screened in Hindi as well.

The film stars Kangana Ranaut as J Jayalalithaa and Arvind Swami as MGR. AL Vijay directs the film, which is produced by Shaailesh R Singh and Vishnu Vardhan Induri. On September 10, 2021, it will be released.
