Rohit Shetty expands 'cop universe' with Akshay Kumar's 'Sooryavanshi'; poses with 'Singham' Ajay, 'Simmba' Ranveer

Rohit Shetty gave Bollywood fans Singham in the year 2011 which was an epic cop action-drama. The film starred Ajay Devgn in the titular role and it went on to become a blockbuster. Then in 2014, Rohit directed the sequel titled Singham Returns in which Kareena Kapoor Khan joined Ajay as the female lead. Last year, the kickass filmmaker went on to helm another cop-based film Simmba which starred Ranveer Singh in the lead role.

Now, Rohit is all set to expand his cop universe as he is kickstarting the shoot of his upcoming directorial titled Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar in the titular role. In the film, the Khiladi of Bollywood will be seen as ATS chief and it stars Katrina Kaif as the female lead. Today, Rohit took to his Instagram page and shared a photo posing with Ajay, Akshay and Ranveer announcing his cop universe. The photo also features Karan Johar, who co-produced Simmba and is backing Sooryavanshi as well.

Akshay shared the same photo and wrote, "The cop universe just got bigger as #Sooryavanshi takes charge!"

Talking about Sooryavanshi, we got a glimpse of Akshay's character in Simmba released last year. The film has gone on floors today and will be extensively shot in Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad and Bangkok. It's slated to release on Eid 2020.
