Balraj will essay the role of soldier Buta Singh, who is loyal to the main character Ishar Singh played by Mohit Raina. After winning Roadies, Balraj had decided that he will do a show or a film that will have him an important role. “If not, I would have been happy running my gym in Punjab. I was clear that I wanted to do something that will be a level above Roadies and this serial has me playing a parallel role, so I took it up,” he says.

When asked about his experience shooting with Mohit, who is a popular TV actor, he adds, “Initially, we kept to ourselves. He wouldn’t talk much on the sets. But both of us realised that our characters are together most of the time and they share a strong equation. Mohit told me that since we will be staying together, we should also have a good equation. And, that’s how the ice was broken. Not only did we start talking, but also cracked jokes. Now, we share a good tuning,” says Balraj.

Talking about his character, the Roadies winner says, Buta is emotional and short-tempered. “He joined the army only for money. He had a pregnant wife whom he had left to join the army, and would often fight with the English officials for leave. Ishar is like an elder brother to him and keeps advising him — he even sacrifices his leave for Buta. Eventually, Buta, who is loyal to Ishar realises the importance and fights alongside his comrades,” says the actor.
