After turning producer with a Punjabi short film Khoon Aali Chithi and green-lighting a feature film with which she will launch her banner, Richa Chadha is now venturing into another aspect of business for those in the creative fields.

She has already acquired the trademark for the enterprise. What will be different about her venture is that it will have a social leaning. The Fukrey actress has always spoken about the causes close to her heart, like animal welfare, and has been actively involved in them. She has worked with PETA for Odisha government to help curb elephant crossing deaths due to railways, and was part of the UN march for rape survivors in Delhi.

A source says that the actress feels the status of art and artistes in India needs a solid boost. Her business venture will serve as a platform for those working in literary and visual industries. “Richa has been quietly planning this for the last two years. The trademark came through only last week after which she started the hunt for the right investors to mount the project. Though the business primarily caters to the specific needs of people working in creative professions, such as artists, actors, writers, musicians and so on, it will have a social angle. This venture stems from Richa’s belief that artists of every medium — visual or literary — must be valued and measured up right,” adds the source.
