OMG 2 box office collection day 2: Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi film sees huge 50% jump, earns Rs 15.30 crore

Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi's satirical-comedy drama OMG 2 finally released in the theatres on Friday, August 11, after going through several changes made by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification). In the film, Akshay plays Lord Shiva's messenger, while Pankaj Tripathi plays Lord Shiva's devotee.

Focusing on the importance of sex education in the Indian schools, the film recieved amazing reviews from audiences an critics, who hailed the film's nuanced take on the sensivitie subject while also making the audiences entertain through its gripping narrative and accomplished performances.

Owing to the positive word-of-mouth, OMG 2 saw a 50% jump in its collections on Saturday, earning Rs 15.30 crore compared to the opening of Rs 10.26 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the official numbers on his social media handles and wrote, "The glowing word of mouth has come into play. #OMG2, as predicted, shows EXCELLENT GROWTH on Day 2. Akshay Kumar film has clashed with the Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2, which is wreaking havoc at the box office and has collected Rs 83 crore net on its first two days. The nostalgia factor of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and stardom of Sunny Deol has led to the film running to packed theatres across cinemas in India.

OMG 2, which is the spiritual sequel of the Umesh Shukla-directed hit film OMG - Oh My God! released in 2012, also features Yami Gautam, Pavan Raj Malhotra, Govind Namdev, Aarush Varma, Arun Govil, and Brijendra Kala among others in supporting roles. It is only the second directorial of Amit Rao, who helmed his first film Road To Sangam 13 years ago.
