Producer Nikhil Dwivedi slams celebrities for posting vacay photos amid rising COVID cases, says they're 'plain stupid'

Since unlock guidelines came into effect, several Bollywood stars, one after another, have taken off for holiday destination - the Maldives.

Actor-producer Nikhil Dwivedi on Monday called out Bollywood stars for posting their holiday photos on social media at a time went the country and its citizens are facing an ongoing pandemic and the coronavirus cases are on the rise in many parts of the nation resulting in plummeting of jobs and financial crisis for many. 

Calling out stars like Sonakshi Sinha, Tiger Shroff, Disha Patani, Rakulpreet Singh, Tara Sutaria among others, for their tone-deafness, Nikhil took to Twitter to express his opinion and stated that while it may come across as the actors are heartless, it is not so. He added that they are just 'plain stupid'.

Nikhil wrote in his tweet, "Absolutely. Then we r surprised at the suddenness of the backlash the movie industry receives for unrelated reasons. We r so self-absorbed & so oblivious to what's around us that we appear unempathetic. Let me also assure it's not like they r heartless, none are.. just plain stupid (sic)."

Nikhil's tweet came in the wake of a journalist hitting out at stars for their 'tone-deafness'.

It is to be noted that since unlock guidelines came into effect, several Bollywood stars, one after another, have taken off for the holiday destination and have been flooding the social media with photos from the picturesque destination. 

From Neha Dhupia-Angad Bedi, Tiger Shroff-Disha Patani, Farhan Akhtar-Shibani Dandekar, Tara Sutaria-Aadar Jain to Taapsee Pannu-Mathia Boe and Rakulpreet, Maldives has been Bollywood stars' favourite holiday destination this last couple of months. 

While some flaunted their luxurious resort stays, others gave rather up, close and personal glimpse into their vacay. 

Hitting out at the stars over this, Nikhil tweeted his opinion. 

Meanwhile, the actor-producer tested COVID-19 positive last week. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Nikhil said that he was asymptomatic baring loss of taste and confirmed the news while stating, "Yes, I have tested positive for Coronavirus."

Currently, Nikhil is self-isolating and is under home quarantine. 

On the work front, Nikhil was last seen in Hansal Mehta's 'Scam 1992'. He has recently announced a three-film franchise based on the popular telly-series 'Nagin', to be directed by Vishal Furia and produced by him. The film will star actress Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role.
