Neena Gupta spoke about her personal struggles while she was pregnant with Masaba Gupta in her book 'Sach Kahun Toh: An Autobiography'
Actor Neena Gupta’s new book ‘Sach Kahoon Toh: An Autobiography’ has been stealing headlines these days. In the book she revealed many details about her past personal and industry related struggles. The actor spoke of the time whe she was struggling whle she was pregnant with Masaba Gupta and Vivian Richards, former West Indies cricketer had refused to marry her or take care of the newborn.
In an excerpt from her book, Neena revealed that her friend suggested she should marry a gay banker from Mumbai's Bandra area, who wanted to avoid societal pressure. Neena would be allowed to say that the child was his but he would not be a part of her life. Neena Gupta stated that she laughed them off because she didn't feel right about getting married just to avoid controversy. She decided to face the speculation when it happened, until then Neena opted to wear loose clothes as long as possible in order to avoid any negative comments.
Additionally, Neena Gupta also revealed that actor/filmmaker Satish Kaushik had offered to marry her too when she was pregnant. The filmmaker had told her that she could say the child was his and that nobody will suspect a thing.
For the unversed, she gave birth to Vivian's daughter Masaba Gupta and brought her up as a single mother. Neena married Delhi-based Chartered Accountant Vivek Mehra in 2008. After years of being in the industry, her career got a fresh lease of life in 2018 with films like 'Badhaai Ho', 'Veere Di Wedding' and 'Mulk'. Earlier, she had made an appeal for work on Instagram.
Neena was recently also seen on Kareena Kapoor Khan’s talk show in which she talked about why and how she thought to publish the book and what all one can expect while reading it.
