The Naagin of Indian television is currently busy promoting her upcoming film and is undoubtedly really excited about the same.

However, during one such promotional event, Mouni was hurt and sad. And why is that so?

Ever since it was announced that Mouni Roy would take her first big step in B-Town with Gold, rumours were rife that the actress' Bollywood career id being given a push by the Race 3 actor Salman Khan

The fact that she appeared in one of the episodes of Bigg Boss 11 with Salman, added fuel to the fire.

But it was long that Mouni expressed her hurt when such rumours again gained traction.

In an interview to Bombay Times, she not only rubbished such rumours, but also said that she’s hurt that despite having worked in the industry for 10 years as an actor and being a Bengali by birth, her landing the role of a Bengali woman called Monobina Das in the film is being credited to Salman’s clout in the industry.

She said, “You should actually pose this question to Ritesh (Sidhwani, producer of Gold). Salman Khan has had no role to play in my Bollywood debut; I don’t know how these reports emerged and I wonder why anybody would do that for me. Is it so unbelievable that after acting for 10 years and being a Bengali, I can’t land a Bengali character’s role by myself? It was hurtful.”

The actress also said that she felt bad when media chose not to give her due credit as an actor.

“It was my moment, but they took it away from me.”

She went on to say that Salman is someone she “loves and respects immensely”. She is a fan of the actor since she was a little girl and how she would collect his posters and pictures and that she didn’t want to take his name.

However, she made it clear that his company had no role in her bagging any role.

“Let me clarify that I have not got a single call from Salman Khan’s production house for any role,” Mouni told the daily.

Gold, directed by Reema Kagti, will also see Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Vineet Singh in pivotal roles. The film is set to hit the silver screen on August 15.
