Thanks to its foot-tapping music, powerful cast and a maverick filmmaker helming an unusual love story, Manmarziyaan has created a lot of buzz. Here are five reasons why you shouldn’t miss out on this movie that opens in cinemas on September 14.
Anurag Kashyap went on to put his signature spin on the classic Devdas and won accolades for Dev. D (2009). After a spate of edgy thrillers, he is back with a musical that has passion and drama.
Composed by Amit Trivedi, the soundtrack boasts of 14 songs, each distinctive from the other. Created over a span of two years, the tracks are a heady mix of desi beats and contemporary rhythm. The talented music composer had collaborated with Anurag for the first time in Dev. D, for which the former had even won a National Award.
The makers were keen on having the right cast to pull off the layered characters. Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu, who have never failed to deliver one fine performance after another, have outdone themselves in this flick, going by word-of-mouth.
The movie is a launch pad for promising names, all handpicked by Anurag and producer Aanand L Rai, who are known for encouraging new talent. This time, they are introducing YouTube dance sensations Poonam and Priyanka Shah aka Dynamic Duo, actors Akshay Arora, Zebby Singh and Ashnoor Kaur, along with singers Deveshi Sehgal and Mast Ali.
This is the second time Aanand and Anurag are collaborating on a project after Mukkabaaz. While the former is known as the king of small-town romances, the latter is synonymous with edgy narratives. When both of these talented filmmakers come together, the final product is bound to be explosive. Backed by Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International, Manmarziyaan is a passion project that is presented by Colour Yellow Productions.
Manmarziyaan, produced by Aanand L Rai and Phantom Films, releases on September 14.
