The letter by Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association stated on November 19, 2020, that Madhur Bhandarkar had the rights to the title 'Bollywood Wives'. Another post read that the Guild did 'not register the name in favour of Dharma Productions'.

Madhur Bhandarkar shared the post writing, "When ‘IMPPA’ asked ‘Film Guild of India’ whether @DharmaMovies was given the Title #BollywoodWives where Dharma is a Member. The GUILD replied that they had outrightly rejected the same. That shows Dharma have blatantly tweeked and misused our Title #BollywoodWives. Check."

Madhur had previously accused Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta of misusing the title. He shared that the title was tweaked despite the filmmaker having rights to the title.

Bhandarkar tweeted about the incident and wrote, "Dear @karanjohar U & @apoorvamehta18 had asked me 4 the title #BollywoodWives for web, which I refused,as my project is underway."

He added, "It is Morally & ethically wrong u to tweak it to #TheFabulousLivesofBollywoodWives. Pls do not dent my project. I humbly request u to change the title."

The show chronicles around the lives of popular 'star wives' namely Seema Khan (wife of Sohail Khan), Maheep Kapoor (wife of Sanjay Kapoor), Bhavana Pandey (wife of Chunky Panday) and Neelam Kothari Soni (wife of Samir Soni). The series gives a glimpse about the glitz and glamour world which they enjoy while juggling between the personal and professional lives.

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, who are likely to make a cameo appearance on the show, were also seen in the trailer.
