Though Abhishek Bachchan made his Bollywood debut in the year 2000 with JP Dutta's Refugee, it was his YRF film Dhoom that hit the theatres in 2004, with which he shot to fame. The actor became a nationwide sensation with the portrayal of his character of a cop - Jai Dixit. As Dhoom clocked 15 years on Tuesday, Abhishek Bachchan went down the memory lane and wrote a heart warming note. He revealed how Yash Chopra had called Amitabh Bachchan for a special preview of the film's trailer and how both of them reacted after watching it.

Abhishek shared the poster of the film and wrote along side, "15 years in a heartbeat! A film that changed it all! Especially for me. Will never be able to thank Adi ( Aditya Chopra) and @sanjaygadhvi4 enough for entrusting Jai Dixit to me. Their faith, belief and support came at a time when I needed it the most in my career."

He went on to thank his co-stars, the viewers and other members of the crew writing, "To @thejohnabraham @udayc @imeshadeol Rimi and the rest of the cast. Through the making of the film we made memories to last us a lifetime and friendships that stand till date. To the amazing crew, especially Alan Amin, @anaitashroffadajania @mayurpuri Nirav and @vaibhavi.merchant for making us look, sound and move so cool. To the audience, for the love and acceptance. "

Abhishek then shared his favourite lasting memory of the film. He revealed, "My favourite memory of Dhoom was... Once the first teaser trailer was ready, Yash uncle (the great Yash Chopra) called my father to see it. He especially organised for him to see it on the big screen as opposed to the edit room. After seeing it and then making the projectionist repeat it several times, when they walked out together, I still remember Yash uncle saying with immense pride...the boys have made a good film. Coming from two men we had grown up in front of and whom we idolised it was the greatest stamp of approval ever. Today, when I think about the entire process of making Dhoom, I smile! And THAT is the greatest feeling! #Dhoom #15yrsofDhoom #DhoomMachale"

Such was the hysteria surrounding the movie that it was turned into a franchise with Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan playing the antagonists in Dhoom 2 and Dhoom 3 respectively. Even though the three films had a different antagonist, Abhishek Bachchan's character of Jai Dixit remained a constant, along with Uday Chopra who plays the role of Ali. The title track of Dhoom is still a favourite among many.

Directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, Dhoom also starred John Abraham, Esha Deol and Rimi Sen. Dhoom (2004) was followed by Dhoom 2 in the year 2006 and Dhoom 3 in 2013.
