Kuttey starring Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Radhika Madan, Kumud Mishra, Konkona Sen Sharma, Shardul Bhardwaj, and Naseeruddin Shah, released on January 13, earned Rs 1. 07 crores on day 1.

Film analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Kuttey has a slow start on Day 1… Gathered pace in the evening shows at premium multiplexes… Needs to see a miraculous turnaround on Day 2 and 3… Fri ₹ 1.07 cr. #India biz."

Netizens also reacted to the box office earnings, and one of them wrote, "how is still paying arjun kapoor to act is mystery of modern day era .. itna abhishek hi nahin chala flop de ker."  The second one said, "I really want to know who wants to see Arjun kapoor in the theater." The third person wrote, "Unpopular opinion- Arjun Kapoor will give a clean hit earlier than Pakistani sarook." The fourth one said, "Why do producers make movie with Arjun Kapoor, quite evident that the public shows little interest in watching his movies!?."

The fifth person wrote, "if they will same kind of stuff films it will not run at box offices that's for sure." Another sai, "how can somebody even tolerate this arjun guy on screen...shakal bhi gandi, dhamki bhi deta hai public ko, lukhha kahin ka ...i really regret watching his 2 states on screen."

Meanwhile, Vishal Bhardwaj - one of the most respected directors in Hindi cinema, said that he would love to see a crossover between Aasmaan's Kuttey and the Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra-starrer as both movies belong to the same caper genre.

"I was happy but at the same time, I was concerned because filmmaking is a stressful job. It's a difficult profession," said Bhardwaj, recalling the first time Aasmaan told him about his decision to follow in his footsteps. "You have to manage so many people, from writing the script to finding the right actors and technicians. You are doing event management all the time. Whenever you get a little time, you try to realise your vision," the filmmaker told PTI in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
