Ranveer Singh reveals his dream cast for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai sequel on Koffee With Karan 6
It has been 20 years since Karan Johar's iconic romantic-comedy, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' released but the movie somehow still remains one of India's favourite multi-starrers. The film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan is still celebrated for its fashion, music and dialogues.
Recently, superstar Ranveer Singh, a bonafide Bollywood buff, expressed his desire to be a part of 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' sequel. On 'Koffee With Karan 6' the actor revealed his dream cast for the film. During the famed rapid fire round, when host Karan asked, "Deepika Padukone or Alia Bhatt - Who would you want to be paired with next," Ranveer excitedly said, "Both!"
When Karan further prodded whether he wanted to work with the ladies in the same film, Ranveer said, "Yeah, it would be like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 2'. And then, Ranbir (Kapoor) can enter as Salman. What a great idea! It's a block, Karan. Do it."
Karan didn't seem very excited with the idea and asked, "And, you have given Ranbir the special appearance?" to which Ranveer said, "I mean it was a great entry. He entered the shot in a great way. That back-shot was so iconic."
Interestingly when Karan was recently asked on his radio show that who would he want to cast in the 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' sequel, the 46-year-old filmmaker had replied, "If I made Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 2, I would cast Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor in it."
While we love Ranveer's idea, we don't think it will ever materialise as Karan has time and again made it clear that he can't even imagine himself making the film again.
Talking about his debut film, Karan had earlier said in an interview with PTI, "I was 24 when I wrote that film. But I can't write the same film now. When I see Kuch Kuch Hota Hai today or Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham I myself wonder, 'Why did I write this, how did I write this, from where these thoughts came to my mind?'"
