Karan Johar has announced the title and release date of his collaboration with Akshay Kumar. The director had earlier teased fans on Twitter by sharing that a mega film announcement is to come up soon.

Now he has shared that the film based on the Battle of Saragarhi, co-produced by Akshay Kumar will be titled Kesari and it's slated to hit the theatres on the occasion of Holi next year. The movie will be directed by Anurag Singh. 

What's caught our attention is that, earlier Salman Khan was supposed to co-produce the project and Akshay was to play the protagonist. The trio had even shared a picture to announce the collaboration. Reportedly, when Salman got to know that his other close friend Ajay Devgn is also planning a film on the same battle which he (Ajay) had announced earlier, Salman backed out of the project with KJo and Akshay.

Now, this announcement by KJo makes it clear that the film will be co-produced by Akshay. While Ajay hasn't begun the shooting for his film on the subject - Sons of Sardaar, Karan and Akshay have already locked the release day of their project as well. Watch this space for more updates...
