'Zero' song 'Heer Bandnaam' gave us a glimpse of Katrina Kaif's character in the film and ever since it has released, people have been speculating that it's inspired from her real life break up with Ranbir Kapoor. The fact that, Abhay Deol, who plays her estranged boyfriend in the film, is named Aditya Kapoor, further ignited the rumour. However, Katrina has denied htaking any inspiration from her real life situation for 'Zero'.

In a recent interview with Film Companion, when told about all the parallels that are being drawn between Abhay Deol's character in 'Zero' and her real-life ex Ranbir Kapoor and asked if her character Babita Kumari took a leaf out of her much-public break-up, Katrina said, "I knew that people are gonna try and connect the dots but I also knew that when they see the film they can't do that because the pitch of that character is so different. The pitch of that character is not me...That's not me. That's not my behaviour."

"To me the way she's (Babita) talking (in the film), to me it is outlandish as a person that I am," she added.

In another interview with News 18, on being asked by Rajeev Masand if it was difficult to get into Babita's headspace, Katrina echoed the same sentiments and said, "She's loud and she's out there. She is not subtle. She is not internalizing things. For me that was difficult because to me that always says unrelatable. That always says not real. In my mind, I'm exactly the opposite of her. I'm very subtle. Everything for me is underplayed...So that to me as a person is like 'fake'. It would read to me as 'Fake'."
