Karisma Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor Khan to Sonam-Rhea Kapoor: These B-Town duos give major sister goals

Bollywood’s sister sets may be as different as organza and tweed but when they make appearances together, they end up giving us major sibling goals. For instance, Karisma Kapoor may always favour monochromes, while sis Kareena Kapoor Khan picks bold sartorial pieces, but when you see them together, you can’t help but get blown away by the amazing chemistry they share. “The original Kapoor sisters share a strong bond and that reflects in their closet choices — they both dress staying true to their signature but at the same time, there’s this unmistakable affiliation to easy elegance,” says designer Aniket Satam.

Stylist Eshaa Amiin, who’s styling Lolo says, “What I like about them is the fact that they are both as diverse with their personal styles and yet so in sync with each other at the same time. Lolo is classic and Bebo is bold, yet they both have a chicness to their style and by far, they are always bang on with their looks.”

Last year, the Kapoor beauties even came together for a jewellery campaign. “Both are very well styled and even when they are not styled, they are cool in their own way. They look great together even though they are two very distinctive personalities and make for a great team,” says stylist Isha Bhansali.  

Ditto for Rhea and Sonam Kapoor. During Rheson promotions last year, the duo looked like they fell out of a J Crew catalogue, even though they have very different individual styles. While Rhea’s outfits veer towards comfort and sportified femininity, Sonam is all about experimentation — from silhouette mash-ups to contrasting print-on-print play.

“Rhea is more glam-leisure while Sonam derives from haute couture. However, they bring out the best in each other,” says Azmina Rahimtoola, store owner, Atosa.

KARISMA KAPOOR AND KAREENA KAPOOR KHAN

While Karisma’s taste is classic and understated, Kareena opts for pieces which make a statement. “Karisma is always well put-together while Kareena is easy breezy and experimental. Recently, she was seen in an outfit from Ikai by Ragini Ahuja, which I loved. However, they have their own personalities and distinct styles,” adds Azmina. But there are times when the sisters complement each other like at this B-Town bash, when they both opted for one-shoulder numbers and centre-parted hair.

JANHVI AND KHUSHI KAPOOR

While Janhvi is a complete Bollywood star — be it her salwar kameezes or voluminous lehengas — Khushi is rather laid-back and comfort-driven. The duo looked adorable at the Ambani bash when Janhvi wore an off-shoulder babydoll dress and Khushi cut a fine figure in a printed twin-set.

DEEPIKA AND ANISHA PADUKONE

Athleticism comes to them naturally. While Deepika is ruling Bollywood, Anisha is a professional golfer. Both are tall, athletic and achievers in their own spheres. Recently, when they were seen at the airport in matching Levis looks — it induced an OMG-epiphany.

SONAM AND RHEA KAPOOR

India’s answer to the Olsen twins — Sonam and Rhea  — are a style dream team. “The experimental fashion mavericks — Sonam and Rhea playfully mix and match genres of styles to create unique and head-turning fashion moments. It is this nostalgic and personal dressing connection that the siblings share that strongly reflects in their fashion choices,” says designer Aniket Satam.

SHRUTI AND AKSHARA HAASAN

“They definitely have an age gap but they look cute together,” says Isha. Recently at the airport, the sisters were seen hugging each other much to the delight of shutterbugs who went clickey-click.

MALAIKA AND AMRITA ARORA

They are easily India’s answer to Kendall and Kylie Jenner. While Malaika’s style is unapologetic va va voom, sis Ammu likes to mix her evening pieces with athleisure elements. A few years ago, the duo had shot together for a celebrity magazine and it was a visual treat to see their bodies flirting with the camera effortlessly.

SHILPA SHETTY KUNDRA AND SHAMITA SHETTY

“Shilpa and Shamita have consciously dressed up for many appearances in their true signature style yet having a common thread of fashion running through,” says Aniket. The Shetty sisters love their bling, however, how they play with it is very different. While Shilpa gives a hot-mama-on-the-move vibe, Shamita is rather fun and playful in her approach to dressing up. “Shamita is always well turned out while Shilpa has a particular look — which could be a sari gown or an asymmetrical top,” says Azmina.

Both are gorgeous and check out their Insta accounts for those adorable carfies. Recently they were seen in breezy tunics — colour blocking each other in the burbs.
