They did it before PC!
Priyanka Chopra is part of her friend Mubina Rattonsey’s next, to be directed by her Baywatch director. Reports suggest that PC will essay the role of a young, dynamic lawyer, the main protagonist in the film. Here’s taking a look at the other Bollywood heroines who have done it in recent times, that PC can look at for inspiration.
This film starred Priyanka as the vamp, who falsely accused Akshay Kumar of sexual harassment and rape. While the first half has Annu Kapoor playing Akshay’s lawyer, in the second half, after Kapoor’s character dies, it’s Kareena who wears the lawyer’s suit to protect her hubby and his dignity. While the first one hour had Bebo essayed the hyper wife, in the climax, where she played the lawyer, she delivered a nuanced and restrained
performance.
This film was supposed to be a Shah Rukh Khan-Preity Zinta flick all the way, but the moment Rani Mukerji entered the scene, as SRK’s lawyer trying to free him of all the charges, she owned the film. She played the character with maturity far beyond her age and essayed power and emotions in equal measure. The traditional Saamiya Siddiqui was endearing!
An emotional film, about man with a developmental disability who’s fighting for his daughter’s custody, Sushmita as the lawyer plays the hero. She fights for Ajay and helps him win the custody battle. Her brilliant performance remains the biggest highlight of the film.
Lara played the fierce lawyer, who was up against Emraan Hashmi aka Azhar in the film. The character was caricaturish and her lines and demeanour were amateurish. The court room scenes were also nothing to write home about. Clearly Lara deserved better.
Aishwarya made her comeback after a hiatus of five years in Jazbaa, where she played a top lawyer and a mother. Ash’s character goes through an emotional whirlwind when her daughter is kidnapped and she’s forced to defend a criminal in a murder case. Ash looked stylish in her cool jackets and played the hotshot urban lawyer with aplomb.
