The first teaser promo for Kangana Ranaut’s magnum opus Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi was unveiled last month and it met with great response. The film is currently in the post-production stage where heavy VFX work is underway.

Producer Kamal Jain tells us, “Manikarnika is a visual treat because we have mounted the film on a huge scale. In these kind of films, you have more VFX work but we have shot extensively in real locations at Jodhpur and the Mehrangarh Fort. In terms of action and scale, it’s at par with Hollywood. We have taken care of the special effects by getting the best VFX team at work. It’s largely done by Prime Focus and we are happy with what they have done.”

Talk about the action sequences and he is all smiles, “You haven’t seen a woman warrior fight like this on Indian screens before. What Kangana has managed to do is commendable. She has done all the action herself, under the able guidance of Nick Powell. They have turned out to be really nice on screen. Today, there are some male actors who refuse to do their stunts themselves, but Kangana rode horses, and did the sword scenes all by herself. I’m blessed to have someone like her as my leading lady,” Kamal asserts.

Kangana also took over the direction, when its original helmer Krish couldn’t allot extra dates for a reshoot and patchwork. Kamal heaps praises on the Queen actress saying, “Kangana is very attached to Manikarnika. She has given her heart and soul to the project. Once you see the film, you will know she’s done a phenomenal job. She’s delivered the vision that we envisaged. It’s a spectacle coming everyone’s way this January 25. We are definitely going to wrap the film and the post-production and edits on time.”
