On Tuesday Kangana claimed no architect is ready to re-build her Bandra office even after six months that the building was demolished by BMC.
In an "appreciation tweet" for "ancient women", Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday called out contemporary "achievers" for donning "torn American jeans and rags like blouses" instead of apparels from their own culture.
In a tweet on her verified handle, Kangana shared a photo of three women -- the 'first female licensed doctors in their respective countries'. Alongside the image, Kangana wrote, "Appreciation tweet for ancient women who not only represented their individuality but their entire civilisation, cultures and nations. Today if such achievers are to be clicked they will all wear torn American jeans n rags like blouses, representing nothing but American marketing (sic)."
Soon after Kangana put out the tweet, netizens called her out for her double standards and hypocrisy. Some even questioned why was the actress focusing on the clothes rather than the women's intelligence and achievement.
Meanwhile, some social media users dug out old photos of the actress sporting exactly what she had tweeted against -- torn jeans and western outfits -- and started sharing it on the comments section of the post.
"True That..!" wrote a user alongside Kangana's photos sporting distressed denim shorts. "Torn jeans? Have you never seen powerful, high-achieving women in nice, tailored suits (or whatever the heck they want to wear)?" asked a user. "All hail the hypocrisy queen! You do look lovely here," wrote another user alongside a photo of Kangana accepting the national award from former President Pranab Mukherjee wearing a gown.
"Madam Don't talk abt dressing of other women as u too in movies wear such dresses...," commented a netizen.
"Their sense of clothing does not say anything for their talent. Why would you want to focus on what they're wearing rather than their intelligence?
Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening Kangana claimed no architect is ready to re-build her Bandra office even after six months that the building was demolished by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over alleged illegal construction.
"I have won the case against @mybmc now I need to submit a file for compensation through an architect, no architect is ready to take my case they say they getting threats from @mybmc their license will get cancelled, It's been six months since the illegal demolition," Kangana tweeted.
"Court had asked BMC evaluator to visit the site, but he does not take our calls after many months and continuous chase he visited last week but no response after that. This is for everyone who is asking why don't I fix my house, rains are around the corner, I too worry about it," the actress explained.
The actress also threatened that she is planning to file a criminal complaint against those who took part in BMC's demolition drive on her newly made office in Bandra last year.
In September 2020, the BMC had demolished parts of Kangana's office in Bandra citing illegal construction. The demolition work was stopped midway after a stay order from Bombay High Court on September 9.
