Abhishek Varman's 'Kalank' opened to great Box Office numbers. It became the highest opening of 2019. However day two doesn't seem to be going in his favour. The movie, released on Wednesday i.e. on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.

The movie had an amazing occupancy rate of 35-40% on the opening day. Due to the excitement of the movie, it even had best advance booking of 2019 with collections of approximately Rs 10 crore. Hence, Kalank  opened on a good note but could not sustain that for long.

On day 2, 'Kalank' has faced a major drop, as much as 50%. Tweeting about the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, "#Kalank has a fall on Day 2... A decline was on the cards, but the drop is much higher than expected... Will be interesting to see how it fares on Day 3 [#GoodFriday]... Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr. Total:33.05 cr. India biz."

'Kalank' however is not the first movie to face such a decline. This year's highest grossers 'Kesari' and 'Gully Boy' also had a bad day two. More so, they all were working second day. Taran Adarsh wrote, "Day 2 decline... 2019 releases... #Kesari [Thu release] Decline on Day 2: 20.47% #GullyBoy [Thu release] Decline on Day 2: 32.47% #Kalank [Wed release] Decline on Day 2: 46.99% Note: Day 2 was working day in all three cases."

The movie can also be compared with Akshay Kumar's 2018 release 'Gold', which was not only set in the same era, but was also a Wednesday release. Even though Thursday showed no growth, if the collections of 'Kalank' rise to great number on Friday and over the weekends, the movie can create records.

Alia Bhatt, Varun DhawanAditya Roy KapurSonakshi SinhaMadhuri Dixit Nene and Sanjay Dutt starrer 'Kalank' can mint some money on Friday since it is partial holiday because of Hanuman Jayanti and Good Friday. The movie, which is produced by Karan Johar and was Yash Johar's dream, will face competition from 'Avengers: Endgame', if the movie can survive at the Box Office till then.
