On February 19, Imran Khan had said in a televised address that aired on Pakistan's state channel PTV, that if India carries out any sort of military action as a response to the Pulwama terror attack then Pakistan would retaliate. He had concluded saying, "It is easy to start a war. We all know starting a war is in the hands of humans, where it will lead us only God knows. This issue should be solved through dialogue."

These comments come in the wake on Ferbruary 14, a convoy of 40 CRPF security personnel was killed in the Pulwama Attack in Kashmir.
