The Karni Sena is back in action, this time with Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika. The protest group, the actress claims, is ‘harassing’ her over the release of her film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’. Kangana’s film releases next Friday. Despite obtaining a certificate from the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), the Karni Sena has asked the actress to show him the film. Kangana reacted to that saying she too is Rajput and will ‘destroy’ the Karni Sena if they continue to harass her over the film's release.

"Four historians have certified Manikarnika, we have got censor certificate as well, Karni Sena has been conveyed this but they are continuing to harass me. If they don't stop then they should know I am also a Rajput and I will destroy each one of them," Kangana Ranaut said in a statement.

The issue began when the Maharashtra wing of Karni Sena thought that the movie might be misleading and threatened via ANI saying, "if the image of Rani Laxmi Bai is maligned in the film or if she is shown to be the lover of some Britisher then the makers will face consequences."

The movie is based on the warrior Rani Laxmibai, whose bravery was lauded. She was also among the leaders of the 1857 Mutiny against the East India Company. Named Manikarnika on birth, Rani Laxmibai stayed with her Marathi family in Varanasi before marrying the ruler of Jhansi.

The Karni Sena were in news when they opposed the release of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmaavat too. After a lot of difficulty, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film eventually released on Republic Day last year.
