Actress-turned-producer, fashion icon and philanthropist Priyanka Chopra on Thursday revealed that she would have suffered a major wardrobe malfunction at the Cannes 2019 red carpet had it not been for her amazing team.
For the unversed, for her debut appearance at Cannes red carpet, Priyanka chose a custom-made, fiery Robert Cavalli shimmery bold black and red embellished off-shoulder gown with a train. The attire also featured a thigh-high slit, which Priyanka pulled off with panache and the actress made headlines for looking gorgeous as ever!
However, recently Priyanka opened up on how she saved herself from a wardrobe malfunction through an Instagram post.
Sharing a collage of her stills sporting the Robert Cavalli number at Cannes red carpet, Priyanka wrote, "I may look chill on the outside here, but little did everyone know I had just been freaking out on the inside. The delicate zipper to this vintage @roberto_cavalli dress broke as they were zipping it up minutes before I had to leave for the red carpet at Cannes last year. The solution? My amazing team had to sew me into the dress on the way in the 5 minute car ride! (sic)."
Earlier, in November 2020, 'The White Tiger' star had revealed that she suffered a wardrobe malfunction and had to hold her dress up after winning the 2000 Miss World title because the tape holding the outfit had come off.
"The year 2000 and I won Miss World, my dress was taped on to me. By the time I won at the end I was sweating so much 'cause it was so stressful that the entire tape came off," Priyanka made the revelation in a weekly digital show, PEOPLE in 10, while looking back at her most uncomfortable red carpet looks.
"The whole time while I was doing my walk or whatever when I won, I kept my hands like this in a namaste, which people thought was a namaste but actually was holding my dress up. So uncomfortable!" she added.
While speaking about uncomfortable outfits, Priyanka also shed light on how she managed to overcome an uncomfortable red carpet moment at the 2018 Met Gala.
"My second Met Gala outfit was this blood-red Ralph Lauren beautiful outfit with the gold hood. But the corset under that thing, I couldn't breathe. I felt like it reshaped my ribs. So hard to sit during dinner and I obviously couldn`t eat too much during that night," she said.
Priyanka's red Ralph Lauren attire that featured a velvet evening gown with gold embroidered hood, was one of the most talked-about outfits that year. On one hand, while she was praised for going bold, on the other, her look triggered a meme fest. The actress, however, was sporting enough to share some of the meme made on her look on her social media accounts.
During her interaction with PEOPLE in 10, the actress also shared how, with age, she has been able to embrace a lot of aspects of her personality.
"I'm very ambitious. When I was first growing up, I thought that it was seen as not really a good thing when a woman was too ambitious. And slowly over time, I realised that was my strength," she said, adding that marriage was something that she didn`t always picture for herself.
"For a really long time, I was like, I don't know. Being married was such an alien thought. But (now) I am so comfortable with it," said the actress, who is married to American singer Nick Jonas.
On the work front, Priyanka was last seen in 'The White Tiger' alongside Rajkummar Rao. Currently, she is shooting for next project 'Matrix 4'. Priyanka will also be seen in a series 'Citadel' by Russo Brothers alongside Richard Madden. Besides this, the actor also has romantic drama film 'Text For You' with Jim Strouse, Sam Heughan and Celine Dion.
