Earlier Aamir Khan praised Hichki and wrote on Twitter “Just saw one of the most enjoyable films in a long time! Great story! Amazing performances! Superb film! Thoroughly enjoyed it!" And audience too feels the same for the film.

Released in just 961 screens across the country, Hichki has opened to a good response and has raked in 3.30 crores on Day 1 of its release.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh even confirmed that Rani Mukerji has beaten Sridevi, Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut's opening day collection records in the past. Hichki has earned much Sridevi's Mom, Vidya Balan's Tumhari Sulu and Begam Jaan as well.

Unlike other Yash Raj Films' releases, this film has got a limited release considering the film is meant for niche audience. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma and Aditya Chopra, Hichki is about a teacher played by Rani Mukerji who suffers from Tourette Syndrome and how she ends up making her biggest weakness into her biggest strength. The film has also got a thumbs from DNA After Hrs film critic, Chaya Unnikrishnanm, "It's an inspiring slice-of-life film which has to be watched for the simple sensitive manner in which it is told. It will also take you back to your school days. And of course for Rani who makes a powerful comeback."

With great reviews from film critics and good word of mouth publicity, it is expected that 'Hichki' box-office collections will grow with each passing day.
