'He showed respect by not retaliating': Gauahar Khan 'salutes' Lucknow cab driver from viral video

Actress Gauahar Khan has spoken out on a video that went viral on social media days ago wherein a bespectacled woman in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow is seen thrashing a cab driver, slapping him more than 20 times, at a traffic signal in the city. 

Speaking about the cab driver Saadat Ali, Gauahar said she would 'salute' the man for behaving the way he did while Priyadarshini Narayan Yadav kept thrashing him right, left and centre. She said the cab driver set an exemplary standard on how to behave in such situations. 

While at the airport, when the paps asked Gauahar about the Lucknow viral video, the actress said that the lady in the video crossed all limits, and took advantage of the man's status.

She said, "He showed respect by not retaliating in a similar manner. It shows his upbringing. And that's the kind of men that all of India needs. And what that woman did... She took advantage of being a woman, and she crossed the limits of decency. I salute the man."

According to the police, the incident took place on July 30. 

Meanwhile, cab driver Saadat Ali Siddiqui said that on the night of the incident, the woman came in front of his car, even though the traffic light was green. 

Saadat Ali said that he immediately hit the brakes, after which the woman started pushing against the car, according to a report in India Today. 

"She grabbed my phone from the car and smashed it into pieces. She also broke the car’s side mirrors," he said. However, after the video went viral on social media, a section of netizens slammed her and also demanded her arrest. An FIR was also registered against her. The girl has been identified as Priyadarshini Yadav.
