NCB had conducted a raid on Firoz Nadiadwala's house some time back and recovered drugs from there
On Sunday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided producer Firoz Nadiadwala's house. After recovering huge amount of drugs from the home, Nadiadwala's wife Shabana Saeed was also arrested by the agency.
"Shabana Saeed was issued notice under section 67 of NDPS Act and after recording her statement, she was placed under arrest on November 8", confirmed the NCB.
“Film producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s wife has been arrested today,” Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director of the NCB, also confirmed the news to ANI.
According to sources, one of the previous drug peddlers revealed Firoz Nadiadwala's name, which led to the NCB raid.
A team of NCB officials on Sunday, arrested Shabana Saeed and searched her house in presence of two independent witnesses. 10 gm of Ganja which was procured from accused Wahid Abdul kadir Sheikh during the house search.
The NCB has now clarified, "A total of 727.1 gm of Ganja, 74.1 gm charas & 95.1 gm MD (Commercial Quantity) has been seized till now along with INR 3,58,610/- and total 05 persons including Shabana Saeed have been arrested."
Firoz Nadiadwala has produced films like 'Hera Pheri', 'Awara Paagal Deewana', 'Welcome' and 'Aarakshan'. The producer was sentenced to three-month imprisonment for delay in tax payment in May 2019.
The Bollywood drug nexus case came into light after NCB started investigating drugs angle in actor Sushant Singh Rajput's mysterious death. Various Bollywood celebrities were also summoned by the NCB in the case.
Karishma Prakash, who was working with KWAN, was called for re-interrogation recently. She was previously cross-questioned with Deepika Padukone. They were summoned after a WhatsApp chat where 'D' asks for 'maal' was leaked.
The NCB had arrested Rhea Chakraborty, who is now out on bail. Her brother Showik Chakraborty is still under arrest. More recently, the NCB arrested South African national Agisialos Demetriades, who is actor Arjun Rampal's girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades' brother.
