Brahmastra is directed by Ayan Mukerji and is the first installment in a three-film fantasy drama franchise
'Bramhastra' is one of the most eagerly awaited films of this year. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar, boasts of an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. Akkineni Nagarjuna too will be seen playing a pivotal role in the film. But that's not all, Brahmastra will also mark the Bollywood debut of TV actor and WWE wrestler Saurav Gurjar.
Gurjar, best known for his role as Bheem in the mythological TV show Mahabharat, is currently under a three-year developmental contract with WWE. The 6’8″-tall actor also performs on WWE's developmental territory NXT.
In an exclusive conversation with DNA, Saurav Gurjar spilled the beans about his role in Brahmastra and his experience of working with some of the biggest names in the industry. Gurjar confirmed that he is playing a negative role in the film. "I am playing a negative character in Brahmastra. The film is quite action-packed and I am doing all my moves," Gurjar said. "I have action scenes with Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the film," he added.
Further sharing his experience of working with such big stars, Gurjar said that Ranbir is a good friend now and takes a lot of interest in WWE and his training. "Ranbir is very good-natured. He keeps asking me who is helping me train and how I do my moves or how wrestlers like Undertaker did their moves."
Gurjar recalled his first scene with Amitabh Bachchan where he had to punch the veteran actor on the face. "I have been very fortunate to work with Mr. Bachchan. However, in my first scene with him, I had to punch him. I was a little nervous. Then he said to me- you are a real wrestler, please don't break my nose. I got very nervous after that."
Gurjar also informed us that the director Ayan Mukerji helped him juggle his WWE career and shooting commitments. "He made sure that my WWE training did not suffer. He is a great human being and been very helpful," Gurjar added.
Gurjar, who teams up with another wrestler Rinku Singh in the NXT ring, will be part of WWE's first major tryouts in India later this year.
