DNA Exclusive: Karan Johar's Dharma Productions drops Kartik Aaryan from 'Dostana 2', actor called 'unprofessional'

In the latest pieces of news, actor Kartik Aaryan has been dropped from Dharma Production's much-awaited upcoming film 'Dostana 2' which also stars Janhvi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya in the lead roles. The film is being helmed by Collin D'Cunha.
Kartik Aaryan joined forces with Karan Johar in a grand announcement for 'Dostana 2' in 2019.
However, DNA can confirm that Karan Johar's production house has vowed not to work with actor Kartik Aaryan in 'Dostana 2' nor engage with him in any future projects.
Sources close to the production house told DNA, "Dharma has decided to replace Kartik Aaryan in 'Dostana 2'. Kartik expressed creative differences over the script of Dostana 2' after one and a half years. However, he completed nearly 20 days of shoot in 2019 after reading the same script and agreeing to it."
The source added, "Also, lack of clarity on the commitment of dates from his agency is another reason. It has never happened in the history of Dharma Productions that an actor has shot a film for a while and then walked out alleging creative issues. Therefore, Dharma has decided to not work with Kartik Aaryan in future as well."
In October 2019, Kartik had revealed in an Instagram post that he had started preparing for 'Dostana 2'. He was seen holding the film's script. In subsequent interviews, he had also spoken about the upcoming project and revealed how the role he is about to play will help him push his boundaries as an actor.
In fact, in November 2020, Kartik had shared a photo, sharing that he had begun shooting for 'Dostana 2'
While Kartik has been dropped from the film, the production house is looking for a replacement. Till then, the future of the film and Lakshya's debut in the Hindi film industry is on hold.
