'Disrespectful to acid attack victims': Deepika Padukone slammed for making 'Chhapaak' look as TikTok challenge

Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak has been completely rejected as per box office collections. In these 10 days of its release, the Meghna Gulzar directorial has made about Rs 29.25 crore approx. Moreover, prior to the release of the film, Deepika was bashed for visiting JNU in Delhi post the violence took place inside the college. Many demanded a boycott of Chhapaak, while a few states declared the film tax-free.

Meanwhile, the actor has been promoting the film on a full swing and even joined the viral app TikTok for the same. Recently, the actor featured in a video by a makeup artist where she asked her to recreate her three iconic looks from the film - Om Shanti Om, Piku and the latest one, Chhapaak. However, after seeing the makeup artist recreating Chhapaak look on Deepika's insistence, netizens slammed the actor and called her insensitive.

Many asked her to not 'stoop low' in the name of promotions and called her act 'appalling'.

I'd kept silent about "motives" when Deepika showed up to JNU because it did help give the cause some publicity but the TikTok video shows what Bollywood stars really are. There is no moral compass or political ideology. They wait and respond to things in a very calculate way.

The problem with Deepika Padukone endorsing a makeup challenge on Chhapak is that she treated it as one of her “looks” and dismissed the entire trauma behind it. She proved that it was merely makeup for her & she clearly doesn’t understand the depth of what survivors go through.

While there were a few who defended Deepika's act by tweeting, "Deepika helping to normalise acid scars with Malti's look being recreated. Social inclusion for acid attack survivors is important and the TikTok videos are a great way."

Meanwhile, talking about Chhapaak, the film also starred Vikrant Massey as the male lead.
