Did you know? Sridevi had worked in 13 films in one year

India bid adieu to its first female superstar Sridevi in full state honours in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon. The 54-year old actress left for heavenly abode but memories of the remarkable actress stay on. With one of the highest numbers of mourners, touted to be at par with India's first superstar Rajesh Khanna in 2012, is a proof of the impact Sridevi had on her audience in five decade long career. Her innocence and vulnerability lit up the screen each time she faced the camera. There are many stories about her professionalism, that she was a dedicated actress who turned up on sets in spite of bad health and personal crisis and gave her hundred per cent to her job. But did you know there were times when Sridevi did 13 films in a year as well. Can you imagine? In today's times actors are vary of exposure or prefer to focus on one film at a time, but back then every filmmaker wanted to cast Sridevi and she ended up doing back to back films. 

So let's start counting:

13 film releases in 1982
Sridevi had a staggering 13 Telugu films released in that year and many of these films were remade into Hindi. Trishulam with Krishnam Raju was remade into Naya Kadam with Rajesh Khanna. Justice Chaudhary that starred NT Rama Rao was remade in Hindi with same title and Jeetendra as lead actor. Here are the names of the films:  Aadi Vishnulu, Trishulam Lakshmi, Andagaadu Hema, Anuraga Devata Roopa Devi, Bangaaru Bhoomi Padma, Bangaaru Koduku, Bobbili Puli Vijaya, Justice Chowdary, Kalavari Samsaram Sujatha Krisharjunulu Vasanti, Krishnavataram Gauri, Bangaru Kanuka Roopa Vayyari Bhamalu Vagalamari Bhartalu and Prema Nakshatram.

11 film releases in 1981
Sridevi actred in 11 Telugu films released that year.  Puli Bidda, Bhoga Bhagyalu Radha, Aakali Rajyam Devi, Gharana Gangulu, Gadasari Atta Sogasari Kodalu Susheela, Guru Shishyulu Lata, Kondaveeti Simham Devi, Premabhishekam Devi Rani Kasula Rangamma Rangamma, Illalu Jyoti and Satyam Shivam. She worked with all big names like Krishnam Raju, Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, and NT Rama Rao.  From a social drama to a film with a sports backdrop, she played the lover girl in all these films.

11 film releases in 1977
Sridevi did 11 Malayalam film releases and worked with actors like KP Ummer, Kamal Haasan, Bahadoor and others. This period also forged the wonderful friendship between Kamal and her. Some of the films were Aasheervaadam, Aadhya Paadam, Oonjal, Satyavan Savithri Savithri and Vezhambal. Post this, she took a huge break only to be seen in 1996 in Devaraagam. She acted opposite Arvind Swamy.

10 film releases in 1980
Sridevi was a much loved actress in Telugu and shared screen space with all the stars from Nagarjuna to NT Rama Rao and Krishnam Raju. Some of the films she did in 1980 were Aatagadu Vijaya, Kaksha Radha, Prema Kanuka Sandhya and Mosagadu.

10 film releases in 1986
She had established herself in Bollywood with Nagina. Her role of the shape-shifting Naagin and mesmerising dance moves in 'Meri Teri Dushman' is still remembered. Other hits were Jaanbaaz, where she looked uber hot in a red saree in the song Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta . Karma, where she was Jackie Shroff's love interest. She also acted in films like Suhaagan, Ghar Sansar, Dharm Adhikari that year.
