Sridevi breathed her last last on Saturday night in Dubai. While her mortal remains are yet to reach Mumbai, fans and film stars from across the country have reached Anil Kapoor's residence to pay their last respect to the veteran actress.

Sridevi who started her career at the age of 4 in Tamil cinema, even after shifting to Mumbai and getting married to Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor has her roots down south. On August 13th 1963, she was born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayappan in Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu. Born to Rajeswari and Ayappan, Sridevi has her roots in holy town of Tirupati. Her late mother belonged to Tirupati and her news of sudden demise has taken her relatives from maternal family into a state of shock. According to reports, after Sridevi's father passed away in 1991 and her mother also died after prolonged illness in 1997, her maternal aunts took care of the veteran actress. Her later mother's sisters Munnisubbamma and Anasuyamma have been inconsolable ever since the news of Sridevi's news broke. Reports even suggested that actress used to go to Tirupati temple every year and had promised her aunts to continue the tradition this year as well. But unfortunately, that wasn't meant to be.

As the entire family and fans of Sridevi are waiting for her mortal remains to reach Mumbai, her maternal from Tirupathi also plan to reach her home for the funeral.

In a letter to Sridevi fans, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma spilled details about her personal life and wrote, "I know her life from the time I met her  . I saw with my own eyes how her life was like a bird in the sky till her father’s death and then became like a bird in a cage due to her overprotective mother. " He even wrote, "In those days actors used to be only paid in mostly black money and due to fear of tax raids her father used to trust friends and relatives and everyone of them betrayed her the moment her father died. Coupled with this the ignorant mother made many wrong investments in litigated properties and all those mistakes combined made her almost penny less by the time Boney came into her life."
