Did you know? Sonakshi Sinha's Welcome To New York is Bollywood’s first 3D comedy

Welcome To New York has generated a buzz among movie buffs, thanks to its star-studded ensemble cast. It not only features Diljit Dosanjh and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles, but also has the multifaceted Karan Johar in his first-ever double role. If the trailer is any indication, his dual avatars will be a laugh riot. Moreover, Salman Khan and Sonakshi’s song, Nain Phisal Gaye, has delighted fans of both the actors. Apart from Rana Daggubati, who will be seen in his first comic role and Sushant Singh Rajput’s cameo, the film also stars Riteish Deshmukh, Boman Irani, and Lara Dutta Bhupathi.

The comic caper is about two people who take an unexpected trip to New York and how their lives change forever. This is also the first time an out-and-out comedy is being made in 3D. Considering that the story is set against the backdrop of a film awards show, it promises to be entertaining.  

Director Chakri Toleti, who has helmed movies down South, forays into Bollywood with this film. He enthuses, “It’s the first time a comedy is being released in the 3D format. The audience loves watching 3D and who would have thought of attempting one in this genre before? Welcome To New York will provide a new experience.” Producer Vashu Bhagnani, who is backing the project, says, “Introducing the movie in 3D is a unique way of enjoying this rib-tickling comedy. I hope the audience will enjoy it.”

Directed by Chakri Toleti and produced by Pooja Films and Wiz Films, Welcome To New York releases today worldwide.
