Boy meets girl, they fall in love, sing songs around trees and eventually after getting the approval of the parents, the two get married and live happily ever after. Most romantic stories end on a happy note but Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is a Bollywood saga that ended with the death of the lead pair thus making it earn the status of a cult classic. Starring Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla in the lead, the movie completes 30 years of entertaining the viewers on April 29. Here's some interesting trivia for all the QSQT fans.

While Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak did release with a tragic ending, very few know that there were actually two climaxes that were shot for the movie - one happy and the other sad. However, Mansoor Khan who made his directorial debut with the movie was more convinced with the tragic ending. But, going by the era where happy endings were most loved, his father Nasir Hussain who was also the producer of the movie, thought otherwise. With the clash of opinions, Mansoor Khan managed to get his way after he asked his father to withdraw his name from the credits, if the movie released with a happy ending. Finally the climax with the tragic ending made it to the final cut.

Mansoor Khan said, “Although my father had initially planned to end the movie on a sad note, he seemed sceptical about the climax and asked us to shoot another ending.  However, the flow of the movie gave a feeling that there might be some tragedy soon. Hence, I opted to close the movie the way Romeo and Juliet ended.”
