Bollywood actor and filmmaker Arbaaz Khan has confessed to the police that he has been betting on cricket matches for the past five to six years, as per a police officials claims. Not just that, sources also reveal that his ex-wife Malaika Arora Khan was aware of his illegal doings and betting was one of the reasons why the couple got divorced.

After being married for 18 years, the couple was granted divorced by Bandra court in 2017. The former couple continues to hang out with each at family dinners and vacations and stand by each other as parents to their teenager son, Arhaan as well even after ending their marriage. In an interview to Mid-Day, Malaika had opened up about her divorce and said, "Arbaaz is a part of my family, the father of my child. Certain equations don't change overnight. The things that happened should remain between us. It's personal. We don't have to prove anything to anybody. Meeting Arbaaz makes my son happy, and that makes me happy. Come on! For Amu, he's like a brother, and he is a son to my parents. What happened is between us," she had told the news daily.

Meanwhile, in the IPL betting racket, sources reveal that Arbaaz Khan and Sonu Malad, who is believed to be one of the top bookies in the country were grilled by the Thane Police. The IPL betting racket was busted on May 15 by the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of Thane Police's crime branch with the arrest of four people in Mumbai, including Sonu Jalan. While the actor claims that he had not placed any bets on IPL 2018 matches which ended recently, police officials told PTI  "We suspect that Arbaaz Khan had placed bets on IPL matches and want to scrutinise his bank transactions."

Khan allegedly lost Rs 2.80 crore in betting to Jalan and was not paying the amount, following which the bookie had threatened the actor, the official had said, citing the interrogation of the arrested accused.

After giving his statement to the Thane Anti-Extortion Cell, Arbaaz Khan told media persons, "My statement has been recorded. Police asked whatever they needed in this investigation and I answered them. I will continue to cooperate with them."
