We have often seen that celebrities have been asked to express their opinions on the ongoing socio-political issue at several media platforms. Sometimes the celebs avoid answering or many times they say it anyway. On Wednesday evening, Deepika Padukone marked her presence at The Print's Off The Cuff by Shekhar Gupta. During the talk show, the actor spoke at length about mental health issues and she was even asked to address why she has not spoken up on incidents of lynching across the country.

Deepika started off by saying, "I am someone who likes to work and express my perspectives where I can see change." She further answered, "Actors are brought on platforms and are expected to give our opinions on everything. Why are businessmen not asked these questions, why does someone not ask Ratan Tata what he thinks about Aarey, why are cricketers not asked about MeToo."

Moreover, Deepika added, "So, sure, I don't think I'm in any kind of place to say if I would expose myself to a forum. You can ask me whatever question you want, but why subject it only to a film star?"

She concluded by saying, "As responsible, should we not have an opinion? All our opinions should matter then, right?"

Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar's upcoming directorial Chhapaak in which she plays the role of an acid attack survivor. The film is slated to release on January 2020.

Deepika also has Kabir Khan's '83 in which she is reuniting with Ranveer Singh on the big screen after two years.
