Bollywood superstars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the knot at a moony wedding yesterday. The power couple, who got married in a traditional Konkani ceremony, exchanged vows at the scenic CastaDiva Resort and Spa at Lake Como, Italy. The holy matrimony was a close-knit affair with only 40 guests in attendance. DeepVeer, as the duo is popularly known, sported colour co-ordinated outfits designed by Sabyasachi.
With her doe eyes, svelte figure and ethereal looks, Deepika made for a stunning bride. The ceremony was held amidst tight security and the guests were strictly asked not to carry any mobile phones to ensure the couple’s privacy.
Filmmaker Karan Johar congratulated DeepVeer on Twitter. He wrote, “Such a stunning gorgeous and beautiful couple!!!! Nazar utar lo! Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh!! Badhai ho!!! Love you both!!! Here’s to a lifetime of love and joy! (sic).”
The Anand Karaj will take place today. The jodi, who solemnised their relationship after six years of dating, will host receptions once they return to India.
The couple kick-started their wedding celebrations with a ring ceremony on Monday, followed by mehendi on Tuesday. During the mehendi, Deepika was the cynosure of all eyes as she looked ravishing. Ranveer wore a matching outfit, in the same festive shade, between red and pink. It was a deeply emotional moment for DP when the henna was applied on her hands. Tears started rolling down the actress’ cheeks who couldn’t contain her joy. Veteran singer Shubha Mudgal performed a thumri at the ceremony, which moved Deepika. Seeing his bride get teary-eyed, the groom hugged and consoled her. Later, he even played the dhol for her. Bollywood singer Harshdeep Kaur performed at the duo’s sangeet ceremony on Tuesday evening.
