'Dates!' Rajkummar Rao opens up on not signing 'Dostana 2'

Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Made in China. In the film, the talented actor plays the role of a struggling Gujarati businessman and also stars Boman Irani and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. There were even reports making the rounds that Karan Johar was keen on casting Rajkummar Rao in Dostana 2 however, the film is being made with Kartik Aaryan and debutant Lakshya as the male leads.

Talking about the same, Rajkummar told Mumbai Mirror, "He’s one of the finest filmmakers in the country. I hope something works out soon and I’m pretty sure it will." When asked about why he couldn't star in Dostana 2, Rao revealed dates as the reason and said, "My next project, opposite Priyanka Chopra, will be shot during the same time. But it’s a great script and Colin D’Cunha, the director, is my classmate from FTII."

It is also being said that Rajkummar might step into the shoes of Dharmendra's role in Chupke Chupke's remake. Confirming the report, the actor replied, "It’s a big responsibility to step into his shoes. The scripting is underway now. We know that we can’t match Hrishida’s (Hrishikesh Mukherjee, director) standard, but we will try and put our best foot forward."

Now, apart from Made in China, Rajkummar has several films in his kitty. He will be reuniting with Hansal Mehta and his first co-star Nushrat Bharucha in Turram Khan. Raj also has another horror-comedy titled Roohi-Afza opposite Janhvi Kapoor. He will also be seen in one of the segments in Anurag Basu's upcoming anthropology opposite Fatima Sana Shaikh.
