In a complaint filed against her and others for shooting a "dancing video" outside a historical mosque in Lahore, a district court in Pakistan issued arrest warrants for "Hindi Medium" star Saba Qamar on Wednesday.

For repeatedly missing court appearances, Lahore's magistrate court issued bailable warrants for Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed. The hearing has been postponed until October 6.

Last year, Lahore police filed a case against Qamar and Saeed under section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code, alleging the alleged "desecration" of Masjid Wazir Khan in Lahore's old city.

According to the FIR, both actors violated the sanctity of the mosque by filming a dance video, which provoked widespread outrage among Pakistanis.

In connection with the violation of the mosque's sanctity, the Punjab government had also sacked two senior officers.

Qamar and Saeed apologised for their actions after receiving widespread condemnation and even death threats on social media.

Qamar said, “It was the music video featuring a Nikah (marriage) scene. It was neither shot with any sort of playback music nor has it been edited to the music track.”

Qamar, who has won praise for his efforts in Bollywood films, also did a biopic of social media sensation Qandeel Baloch. For her "un-Islamic" behaviour, she received death threats on social media. She was threatened on social media that she could face the same fate as Qandeel Baloch, who was killed in 2016 for 'disgracing the family honour.'

Various religious groups staged demonstrations in the city, demanding that the artist couple be punished harshly for their alleged wrongdoing.

Saba Qamar is a Pakistani actress who also works as a television host. Her roles have been acknowledged as a notable change from the usual representation of women in Urdu television. She is one of Pakistan's most popular and highest-paid celebrities. She has received four Lux Style Awards and has been nominated for a Filmfare Award. In 2012, the Pakistani government awarded her the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, and in 2016, the Pride of Performance.
