Buzz Is: Karan Johar ropes in Rajkummar Rao to play lead in 'Dostana 2', co-star yet to be announced

There is no denying that Rajkummar Rao is a bundle of talent. His unique roles make him the actor who has been appreciated for each character that he plays. Of late, Rao appears to be ready to experiment as a gay character on screen.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao's bromance in Bareilly Ki Barfi won many hearts. It appears that the makers of Ayushmann's Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan approached Rao to play Khurrana's gay partner. However things did not materialize and TVF famed Jitendra Kumar ended up bagging the role.

However there is not much disappointment since a report in Open Magazine stated that Rajkummar Rao is indeed playing a gay character, but for Karan Johar's Dostana 2. According to the report, the story this time is about a gay couple who pretend to be straight.

The report also went on to claim that apart from the lead actors Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and Bobby Deol, director Tarun Mansukhani will also not be associated with the project. Dostana 2 is expected to go on floors next year.

Although Rajkummar Rao's name has been linked to the film, we now wait to see who would play his partner in the film. The makers could probably take a clue from Kartik Aryan, Ishaan Khatter or Arjun Mathur, who were approached to play Ayushmann's gay partner in Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan. It would also be interesting to see if the makers can manage to bring out a gay side to any actor who has played macho man on-screen.
