Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak had a bad first week at the Box Office, especially in comparison to Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji which has crossed Rs 100 crore club within a week of its release
Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has been working well at the Box Office since the day of its release. After a week, the movie has managed to conquer its place at the Box Office in comparison to Deepika Padukone's film Chhapaak.
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, starring Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, is exceptional in Maharashtra. The movie dominated at the Box Office over the weekends as well as the weekdays. It has even gone on to become a hit after achieving the feat.
Confirming the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Tanhaji conquers BO... Incredible trending: solid weekend, smashing weekdays... Exceptional in #Maharashtra... Will dominate in Week 2... Fri 15.10 cr, Sat 20.57 cr, Sun 26.26 cr, Mon 13.75 cr, Tue 15.28 cr, Wed 16.72 cr, Thu 11.23 cr. Total: ₹ 118.91 cr. #India biz. SMASH-HIT."
Chhapaak, on the other hand, worked well, that too marginally, only on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the help of partial holidays of Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Lohri, Bhogi, Bhogali Bihu, Tusu Puja, and Hadaga. The movie, however, will find it tough to survive in the second week.
Taran tweeted, "#Chhapaak disappoints... Lacklustre trending in Week 1... Partial holidays [Tue and Wed] helped marginally... Will find the going tough in Week 2... Fri 4.77 cr, Sat 6.90 cr, Sun 7.35 cr, Mon 2.35 cr, Tue 2.55 cr, Wed 2.61 cr, Thu 1.85 cr. Total: ₹ 28.38 cr. #India biz."
Tanhaji and Chhapaak, along with Rajinikanth's Darbar, Mahesh Babu's Sarileru Neekevvaru, Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, and Dhanush's Pettas, will face tough competition from next Friday. Varun Dhawan-Shraddha Kapoor's Street Dancer 3D and Kangana Ranaut's Panga are slated for release on January 24, 2020.
