Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy starrer sports drama Gold has managed to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office as it has collected Rs 55 core nett approx in four days of its release. The movie hit the theatres on the occasion of Independence Day, i.e., August 15 this year, aiming at an extended five day weekend.

While the collections on the first day of its release were phenomenal as the film opened to a whopping figure of Rs 25.24 crore. The movie went on to become Akshay's highest opener till date. However, the collections recorded a major dip on day two. 

A report on Box Office India suggests that Gold finally managed to pick up its momentum on Saturday after the decline in its collections on day two (Thursday). The report further adds that the Reema Kagti directorial collected a total of Rs 12 crore at the box office on Thursday, taking the film's total collection to Rs 55 crore nett approx. 

The film, which also stars Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Sunny Kaushal, clashed with John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate at the ticket windows. Though, both the movies are doing well, Gold seems to be having an upper hand, owing to better reviews and word of mouth. 

It'll be interesting to see how the film fares in the weekdays, beginning from Monday. Watch this space..
